When Dr. Heather Kivisto graduated from the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1997, her family consisted of one rambunctious Golden Retriever, one anxiety-ridden English Setter, two aloof Siamese cats, two easy going tabby cats, one surly iguana, two messy finches and her husband Steve, who she met and married while completing her degree in veterinary medicine. Today, Dr. Heather Kivisto, her husband Dr. Steve Kivisto (formerly of St. Francis Vet Clinic) and their children Gracie(10) and Gavin(8) live in Princeton, Minnesota with their strawberry-eating Shih-tzu, Isabella and their Terrier/Schnauzer cross Steve (he came with the name!). Now sixteen years later, Dr. Kivisto's family has certainly changed, but her love of veterinary medicine and continued focus on quality patient care has remained constant. Dr. Kivisto enjoys all facets of veterinary medicine, especially internal medicine, behavioral medicine and reproductive medicine. Dr. Kivisto has practiced veterinary medicine in Princeton, Minnesota since 2006, and before that was employed at busy veterinary practices in St. Cloud, Blaine and New Hope, Minnesota. Dr. Kivisto spends most of her time away from work enjoying the trials and tribulations of raising two small children, but also carves out time to pursue such creative outlets as quilting, scrapbooking and gardening.
